The Constitution and
By-Laws are currently being revised ~ please
CONSTITUTION Article 1 : The name of this association shall be the York County Beekeepers’ Association. Article II : The objectives and purpose of this association shall be to promote the interest in beekeeping and to educate the public in the importance of honeybees, honey and other byproducts, and pollination in our county. Article III : Any interested person may become a member of this association upon payment of the prescribed dues. Article IV : The officers of this association shall consist of a PRESIDENT, AN VICE-PRESIDENT, a SECRETARY, a TREASURER and a REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PENNSYLVANIA BEEKEEPERS’ ASSOCIATION. The offices of secretary and treasurer may be combined into one office at the discretion of the body upon the recommendation of the Nominating Committee. Any member in good standing shall be eligible to hold office. The officers shall be elected biennially at the last business meeting of off numbered years. The president may serve only two terms in succession. A vacancy in any office shall be filled by election at the next regular business meeting of the association. Article V : This constitution shall be ratified by a majority vote of all association members in good standing, provided the constitution has been presented and read in at least one previous meeting. Article VI : Amendments to this constitution may be submitted at any regular business meeting of the association, and may be adopted by a 2/3 vote of at least 1/2 of the members in good standing. If, however, the proposed amendment has been read at a previous regular business meeting, it may be adopted by a 2/3 vote of the members present.
BY-LAWS
Article 1 : Duties of the Officers. The duties of the officers of this association shall be as follows : (a) President – This officer shall preside at all meetings, shall direct the general affairs of the association, and shall be a member ex-officio of all committees. (b) Vive-President – This officer shall serve in the capacity of President when the President shall be absent. (c) Secretary – This officer shall keep accurate records of the activities of the association. (d) Treasurer : This officer shall collect and disburse moneys of the association, keep records of such moneys, and be ready at all times to give an accounting of the same.

Representative to the
Pennsylvania State Beekeepers’ Association – This officer shall act as
Liaison between this association and the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers’
Association, attending as many meetings of both associations as is
possible. If unable to attend meetings of either association, this
officer shall notify the president who shall then appoint a suitable
replacement if necessary. Articles II (a) 1. MEETINGS : The
number and places of the meetings to be held during the year shall be
proposed at the first regular business meeting of the year. Specials
meetings shall be held at the call of the president of a majority of the
members. Any number of members present shall constitute a quorum to
conduct the business of the association. Regular and special
meetings shall be announced to all members by mail, either from the
County Agent’s Office or from the association secretary Article III. DUES. The amount of annual membership dues for the following year shall be set by vote at the last regular meeting of the year. Article IV : ELECTIONS. Officers shall be nominated by a nominating committee of three members to be appointed by the President. This committee shall make its report at the last business meeting of odd numbered years. Opportunity shall be given for additional nominations from the floor. Election shall be by secret ballot. Article V : COMMITTEES. The president shall appoint committees, and the first person named shall serve as chairperson of the committee. An Audit Committee shall be appointed to audit the accounts of the association annually prior to the first meeting of the year. Article VI. ARREARS. Dues are due and payable on the first day of the year. Upon notification by the association, members shall be removed from the rolls if dues are not paid by the April meeting. Article VII. AMENDMENTS. Amendments to these by-laws may be submitted at any regular business meeting of the association, and may be adopted by a 2/3 vote of at least 1/2 of the members in good standing. If however the proposed amendment has been read at a previous business meeting, it may be adopted by a 2/3 vote of the members present.
